Q4) In 1947, I appeared in front of the congress for permission to grant $400 million for economic aid to Turkey and Greece, and to save them from the rise of communism. The Truman Doctrine was known as the unofficial declaration of war on the Soviet Union. In this speech, I basically said that communists cannot be trusted, are dangerous to all of society and are an evil tyrannical dictatorship (it does sound harsh).

5) Who was the closest person to you in your life?

Q5) In 1914, my father died, and I was often the one to make money for my family, however in this time of hardship, I would grow a strong relationship with my mother, Martha Truman. When I became president, I still came to visit her in her home in Independence, Missouri which was my home town. I also was very close to my sister, who also helped me look after my mother. As a poor child, I learnt that family is the most important thing a boy could have.
